Dream Big, Own the Night, and go Between the Covers with the Mount Pleasant Public Library’s 2012 Summer Reading Programs!

The Mount Pleasant Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is back! This year, the night is the inspiration for our Adult, Children’s and Teen Summer Reading Programs.  The Children’s theme is “Dream Big…Read”; with the Teen theme being “Own the Night” and the adult theme is “Between the Covers.”

The programs cover all ages, including babies, and most of the events are family oriented.  Registration for all programs starts on May 14th.  Goodie bags with calendars, book logs, rules and a few surprises will be given to participants when they register.  The last day to register for the adult program is June 16th.  You can sign up for children’s and teen Summer Reading Programs till the end.

The children’s and teen programs will run from June 4th – July 31st.  The adult program runs from June 4th to July 7th.  A person can only register for one program.  Books of all types, formats and sizes are permissible, but movies are not.  All materials must be checked out from the library.  You may use books you read to others or that others read to you.

Our kickoff program is Blank Park Zoo’s “Day Dreamers” animal presentation on June 21st at 1 p.m. in the Civic Center 2nd floor meeting room.  Other programs include Pajamarama Storyhour for K- 2nd and ages 2 to 5 year olds, family movie days, craft days and the Lego Club for 3rd – 5th grades only.  Some family programs will include Raptors, Night Sky at Oakland Mills, quilting and camping.  Teen programs include Teen Manga Club, a Ghost Story Writing Workshop, Zombiepalooza and Teen Creature Feature Movie Days.  Adult programming will include Film Noir screenings and a book discussion group.

For more information, contact Gayle Trede or Janeé Jackson at 385-1490.
